The Team

Eric Nelson

Eric Nelson - Veterinary Surgeon BVMS MRCVS DIP VET ACUPUNCTURE (IVAS)

It was in July 1968 that after graduating from Glasgow Veterinary School that Eric set off with enthusiasm to start his first job in practice. Bound for Hexham to work for "Pickering & Co" an established family practice based at "Orchard House". "Pickering & Co" became "Hadrian Vets" after moving premises from Orchard House to Orchard Place then to its present day location at Dene Avenue.

Eric specialises in veterinary acupuncture; having studied in Japan, China, USA, Holland Belgium and Norway, he achieved an international diploma in veterinary acupuncture in the 1980s. Eric has a passion in other forms of complementary medicine, homeopathy and herbal medicine, and combines all three disciplines in his work.


Wendy Nelson

Wendy Nelson BVMS MRCVS - Practice Manager

Wendy has had a close association with the practice for 40 years. Having worked in general practice and medical research, she has an understanding of all aspects of veterinary practice and aims to provide our clients with excellent service and that all important ‘personal touch'.


Jenny White

Jenny White - Veterinary Surgeon BVM&S MRCVS

Jenny graduated from Edinburgh University in 1984 and has worked in the North East since, initially in mixed practice but has specialised in small animal practice for the last 14 years. Jenny has an interest in homeopathy.

Jenny is married to a farmer, has three children, dogs, cats and horses to keep her busy in her spare time.

Elizabeth Joseph

Elizabeth Joseph - Veterinary Surgeon BVSc MVSc & MRCVS

Elizabeth qualified in 2005 and has worked up and down the country before resting at Hadrian Vets in September 2010. Elizabeth enjoys all aspects of her job and when not working she is busy looking after her family. Elizabeth enjoys walking and biking with her family. She has a pet cat called ‘kitkat’.

Rachel Forsyth

Rachel Forsyth - Veterinary Nursing Assistant

Rachel joined Hadrian Vets in 2007 and enjoys every aspect of her work. When not at work Rachel spends her time with her husband and two small children as well as her brood of cats and horses.

Celia Lowe - Veterinary Receptionist

Celia our receptionist is your first point of contact for appointments and any customer service enquiries. Celia has worked in veterinary practice for over 12 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience which she is happy to share.
